In Memoriam: Steve Rhoades

On May 11, my dad's oldest son and my half-brother, Steve Rhoades, passed away. He was a private person, and he didn't want a big fuss once he was gone. But given that there is not an obituary for him, my dad and I wanted to honor his memory with a few pictures and a little something that I wrote below:

Steven Hugh Rhoades, a beloved father, son, and brother, passed away on May 11, 2024. Born on April 5, 1960, Steve lived life on his own terms and cherished his family and friends.

At the age of 13, Steve embraced his faith in Christ and was baptized at Green Acres Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Southwest High School in Fort Worth, and shortly thereafter, married and welcomed his son Kevin into the world.

Following high school, Steve demonstrated his patriotism by enlisting in the U.S. Marines and honorably completing a 6-month obligation. After his military service, Steve worked diligently as a construction worker before transitioning to a career as a delivery driver for a pharmaceutical company.

In his leisure time, Steve cherished moments spent fishing at Benbrook with his father and hunting in Young County, Texas. These outdoor activities allowed him to connect with nature and create lasting memories with loved ones.

Steve is survived by his father, Vollie Hugh Rhoades, Jr., his mother, Sonja J. Vaughn, his son Kevin Blair Paul Rhoades, and his half-brother, David Hugh Rhoades. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
